As host to the 53rd Salone Internazionale del Mobile, in April 2014, the city of Milan was again the international furniture and design capital of the world. With increasing global confidence, the expectations for the latest show were certainly great, with around 300,000 visitors expected to attend, but this figure was greatly exceeded. Some 350,000 visitors, from 160 countries, attended and experienced the stunning creations from more than 2,400 exhibitors. And with over 1,400 exhibitors from Italy alone, the economic importance of the show, a result of the innovative and high-quality design manufacturing it represents, was highlighted by a visit from the Italian Prime Minister, Matteo Renzi. It’s perhaps no surprise that this year’s show has been described by visitors and exhibitors alike as being the best yet!
